I’m at home afraid to venture out. Afraid of who or what I might run into. This COVID-19 has put a lot of fear in a lot of people but obviously not enough. There are still people out and about doing their normal everyday errands. The government tells us to stay at home to minimize the spread of this deadly virus. Some people are still taking this as a joke while others are paying deadly consequences.
Some people can survive this virus while others cannot. With underlying health issues, I am probably one that would not survive, or maybe that is just the fear speaking. Why would I chance it? I will continue going to work and an occasional trip to the grocery store for food. But any leisure activities or hanging out with friends and family has come to a screeching halt.
When God is ready to call me home and it is my time to go, I will go with or without this virus. I pray that when that time comes He will give me and my family the strength to get through it. I have always believed that God will help those who help themselves so with that, I choose not to take chances and take every precaution possible to keep from getting or spreading this virus.
I live in what is considered to be a small town with an estimated population of 18,962 people as of July 2019. As of today March 30, 2020, we have 2 confirmed cases according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. Our surrounding counties has a total of 24 confirmed cases. The state of Georgia has 2809 confirmed cases with 87 deaths.
Our President has released guidelines to slow the spread of this disease in 15 days. I sincerely hope everyone will take action and heed to these guidelines.

I don’t read every article or publication or listen to every speech that comes out concerning this pandemic, but I do read up enough to keep me some what in the loop of what is happening around me. It is just too depressing to latch on to every detail. I am trying to maintain as much of a normal daily routine as possible. Some days that is not easy to do. Days like today or this past weekend would have been a great time to go fishing. But I have this nagging thought in the back of my mind that tells me to stay at home, don’t risk putting myself or others in danger. So, what do I do? I stay at home and look for other ways to keep busy. I have discovered that I actually like bird watching. I head out to the front porch every morning with coffee and camera in hand. Now I have a new way to enjoy my morning coffee.
Please comment below, what are your thoughts on this pandemic? Are you still working, and what are you doing to stay safe? I would love to hear your thoughts and maybe discover more ideas to keep from going totally stir crazy while I am stuck at home and can’t go fishing.

So the Governor gave this shelter in place order, but obviously people are not understanding it. I have noticed that most people just look at it as a curfew to be home by a certain time. But, that is not what it means. The shelter in place order is 24/7 meaning only go out for essentials such as work, food and medical. At least that’s the way I see it, but I could be wrong. I personally choose to stay at home and not risk spreading or catching the virus.
I hate to say, but I’m actually glad to see the Governor finally decided to issue a state wide stay at home order. No, I don’t believe that he should have to, but if that is what it takes to make people stay at home and stop risking the spread of this virus, then I’m all for it.
